During earlier periods in its history, the Skydive Monterey Bay operation pioneered high-altitude tandem skydiving and hosted several X-Games events. Today’s customer experience is operated by Uninsured Skydive Monterey Bay Inc. d/b/a Skydive Monterey Bay.
Since you don’t jump out of a perfectly good airplane every day, we want to make sure your skydive is the best experience possible. To do that, we offer special skydive options that no other skydive center in the Bay Area can match.
We feel Lil Pump’s words: “everyone wanna be like me”. But we are the only skydiving center in California that does the world’s highest skydives every day. Period. No other Bay Area skydiving center does that, and we have the best high-altitude skydive prices.
More than 98% of our flights ascend to 18,000 feet above the ground.
The other two percent are from 15,000 feet, still higher than almost all of the standard skydive options in California.

Wondering how much longer a Skydive Monterey Bay freefall could be versus a standard altitude jump? Like, a lot.
Our freefalls are at least 50% longer than standard skydives.
All other options for skydiving near San Francisco means you’re jumping at an altitude of 13,000 feet above the ground. Some Bay Area skydiving centers jump even lower than that. But at Skydive Monterey Bay, our 18,000 foot skydive (on every flight) means a freefall that is 30 seconds longer.
Consider any other high-intensity, adrenaline fuelled activity. In these experiences, our mind often dilates time while it processes the experience. An additional 30 seconds of freefall, or 50% more, allows us to widen our perception and extend the euphoria. When it comes to bliss, more is simply better.
A general skydive at another skydiving location means anywhere from 15-45 seconds of freefall. Usually, their scenery consists of bland-colored wheat fields, cow pastures and a freeway as far as the eyes can see. Don’t settle for standard. We operate, fly and land closer to the ocean than any other skydive center in California! We’re so close to the ocean, the airport is literally built on a sand dune.
That makes our landing area, and most importantly where you’ll freefall and fly the parachute, closer to the ocean than any other skydive center in California. You know what they say: location, location, location.

Scenic Drive is our middle name. Ok, it’s not really “our” middle name, it’s Monterey’s. And sure, it was randomly anointed so by Matador Network, but you see where we’re going. If you’re still with us, then surely you see we’re the crown jewel, or rather the most epic of scenic rides.
The only skydiving center in Monterey county, Skydive Monterey Bay is simply a gem. Subjectively (not really; check out our reviews), the best views for any skydive near San Jose or San Francisco. Definitively, the closest oceanside jump, the only skydiving center with complete views of the entire Monterey Bay, towering Monterey dunes, views of Carmel, Pebble Beach, and the Santa Lucia and Gabilan Mountain ranges stretching into Big Sur.
On the ground, Monterey often receives accolades such as Most Gorgeous Place in America and Best US Seaside Cities. And if you’re going skydiving, you might as well do it in paradise. If you get lucky, you might even spot a whale or dolphin migrating up the coast. Now we’re just bragging.
If SpaceX built a skydiving airplane, this would be it. Our Super King Air Twin Engine B200 is stacked with gigantic engines to thrust a caravan of skydivers to mid-level troposphere jump altitudes (skydiver code for super high skydives) with rocket ship thrust. We always say: anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
If you’re wondering about the significance of all these innuendos about our super powerful skydiving airplane, it’s to make sure we convey its importance on your skydiving experience. Our Super King Air 200 is the main reason we can do the world’s highest skydives on every flight, and it just so happens to be the only one of its kind used in skydiving in the United States.
Skydive Monterey Bay’s airplane climbs to 18,000 feet above the ground in less than 10 minutes after take-off. Most skydiving aircraft in California would take between 30-50 minutes to climb that high. Ultimately, it’s just too logistically challenging, inefficient, and uncomfortable for customers for other skydiving centers to offer on every flight.
Our airplane is retrofitted with 1700 horsepower of thrust, designed to comfortably lift 21 skydivers to 18,000 feet in an extremely fast, smooth, scenic, and safe flight. It’s extremely spacious by skydiving standards. At Skydive Monterey Bay, you’ll sit comfortably upright on padded benches with lots of windows to check out the amazing view of the ocean and mountains.
We’re living in a bit of a renaissance minimalism era. When it comes to jewelry or ottomans, we tend to agree that less is more. But in skydiving, more really is more. More freefall is always better than less freefall, and two engines on an aircraft are always better than one.
